After his parents got divorced Tobey Maguire and his mother did a lot of travelling. He told an interviewer that he changed schools twelve times, losing a good part of his self-esteem by constantly having to start all over. Tobey wanted to become a chef, like his father. But his mother offered him a hundred dollars for taking a Drama class in high school instead of Home Economics. Maguire finally dropped out of high school after his freshman year, focusing on his acting career and performing in various commercials and minor roles in television series. His film breakthrough came in 1997 when Maguire starred in The Ice Storm. Between the first two Spiderman films, for which he followed a hard workout routine, he starved himself and lost ten kilos in order to appear as slim and light as possible for his role as a jockey in Seabiscuit. We find him very fetching in this picture, together with his wife, daughter and her SIGG bottle.
